In 2019, the Network on Education Quality Monitoring in the Asia-Pacific (NEQMAP) at UNESCO Bangkok took a critical examination about its networks between 2013 and 2019 in terms of effectiveness, relevance, and sustainability. Based on the program evaluation, early this year of 2020, NEQMAP published the NEQMAP Strategy 2020-2024 that outlines the network’s vision towards reinforcing quality education and underscores the competency-focused learning and education system alignment as priority programmatic focuses.
In seeking for the Asia-Pacific region’s mutual responsibility and collaborative action making, the NEQMAP organized a webinar “Introducing NEQMAP Strategy in Strengthening the Quality of Education in Asia-Pacific” on Tuesday 30 June 2020 from 14:00 to 15:30h Bangkok Time (GMT +7). The NEQMAP Secretariat first presented the five-year strategy document to its member institutes. The webinar served as a member engagement platform in that the network’s Steering Group representatives gave their inputs on the strategies. Two member states – Philippines and Uzbekistan – also shared brief updates on their ongoing efforts and potential activities for developing competency-based education systems along with the impacts of the pandemic in the process.
