Description:
The post-COVID-19 era has further exposed the learning crisis in education, with students across the globe facing unprecedented challenges in access, engagement, and progression. As has been observed, the traditional classroom has its limitations, particularly in meeting the diverse needs of students.

One such limitation is teacher capacity. While research emphasizes the importance of a learner-centered approach to teaching and learning, teachers often find themselves restricted by the overwhelming number of students they must instruct and routine tasks that consume valuable preparation time. Due to these factors, teachers are often limited in customizing learning experiences and feedback for every student. In Asia and the Pacific, teachers also often lack the tools, training, and necessary support for meeting these individualized learning needs, further compounding these issues.

In this context, AI has emerged as a potential solution. The launch of the AI chatbot, ChatGPT, in November 2022 is a notable example of this, accumulating a record-breaking 1 million active users in less than a week, while garnering significant controversy about its use in education. As we approach a new era of education in the age of AI, our panel of top experts will explore these issues, potential consequences, and possible opportunities for education professionals.
