The UN Secretary-General has launched a policy brief on ‘Education during COVID-19 and Beyond’ to emphasize the global priority for education that should not be undermined. It underlines the education’s role in driving economic progress, sustainable development and lasting peace despite the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic that has disrupted education systems globally. The brief also makes recommendations in four areas to mitigage the effects of the pandemic i) suppress transmission of the virus and plan thoroughly for schools reopening, ii) protect education financing and coordinate for impact, iii) strengthen the resilience of education systems for equitable and sustainable development, and iv) reimagine education and accelarate positive change in teaching and learning.
