Following on UNESCO’s efforts of “rethinking education” (2015 report) and our reexamination into the ‘quality of education’ and what this means for learning, UNESCO Bangkok carried out a regional study on “The Culture of Testing” looking at the Sociocultural Impacts on Learning, and why societies across the region still place considerable emphasis on tests and examinations. The report was published earlier this year, and it is timely to share the findings of the study to NEQMAP members and the wider audience who is interested in the topic. Thus, as part of knowledge sharing activities, NEQMAP Secretariat at UNESCO Bangkok organized a webinar “Culture of Testing: Sociocultural Impacts on Learning in Asia and the Pacific” on 1 November 2018. This was the 3rd NEQMAP webinar in 2018. While the webinar focused on the findings and key message from the regional study, the experts from Hong Kong (China) and Singapore also joined to share their perspectives and thoughts on the topic as well as their respective country experiences.
